It is easier to just give our children something to do. To accomodate them to "keep the peace" or make the thing we're doing easier. But it's good for us to intervene with ourselves sometimes and ask if that's actually the best thing to do. And it doesn't need to be screen time or iPads. It could be giving them a snack or pulling out a coloring book. Of course, there are always times where this is acceptable- and even a good idea. But our kids can handle boredom. They can handle being a little frustrated by waiting in a line without entertainment. And they're going to need to be able to handle that, particularly later in life.
