Quite honestly, I feel a bit burnt out. I feel like everything I do is focused on improving the lives of my children. And I want to do that. But I'm not always presenting myself the way I'd like. And when that happens, we need to take a look at ourselves and determine where we need to make a change. Part of showing up as our best selves requires self-maintenance. As parents, we can find that we've gone days or even weeks without providing anything joyful to ourselves that didn't involve our family and our kids. Now this doesn't mean we didn't have any joyful moments. Because we probably had many, many great moments with our family. But we do have other needs in our life including just meaningful conversation and interaction with more than a few people. It's so hard. It never feels like there is enough time. But I promise you this- when you make time for all the things in your life that truly light you up, you will show up better for everyone in the time that you spend with them. And that's a good thing for you, and everyone else involved in your life, to aspire to. Share this post with another parent who needs it!
