We're preoccupied and busy and rushed, and our lives can feel out of control. Our children can sense and pick up on that, and they can carry those feelings of anxiousness into their own adulthood. But a more immediate, direct impact can be a childhood that feels disconnected (at least to an extent) from the parent. And that can lead to feelings of inadequacy in the relationship. It can even lead to a child feeling unloved by their parents. At least to the full extent in which they desire the connection and closeness. That can be painful for children and it can certainly persist into adulthood through many channels including the desire for the child, turned adult, living their life feeling like they are never enough or even unworthy of love.
