Someone really commented "they are going to eat you" 🤔 If you’re new here, we’re on a trip to visit every country in the world. We rarely address comments like these, but… After traveling to 167 countries, including almost every “horrible country” you can think of, we know there are billions of people who’ve heard negative comments toward them. Yet some of the friendliest and most hospitable people we've met are in countries that some people say are "horrible". 98% of our comments are positive (you guys are amazing!) and we know most negative comments come from a place of naivety, just commenting what they’ve been told vs. talking with someone from the country they’re hating on. But a wise person once said "if you can't point to the country on a map, you probably shouldn't be so outspoken about it." 😊 So we figured we'd reshare our thoughts on a question we've been asked about various countries, and something we had to think about before we decided to visit every country. "Why would you ever go to ____? The government is _____." It's a difficult question with a simple answer: The people. One thing we've learned through travel is that people are not governments. You guys know that just as you most likely wouldn't want to be defined by every decision your government makes, that's true around the world, no matter which country name your mind filled into the _____. And most likely if you went to that country and met some of the people, you’d find that at the heart, there are many similarities - and that there are incredibly kind people all around the world. That's our favorite part about travel, and a reason why we want to visit every country - because we previously only knew about some countries because of news headlines, but we hope to learn about people for who they are...people who want to be loved, support their families, find joy through hard times, + share love with others. limits captions, so please go to our Instagram to see the full one!
