Maui update: Tuesday March 17, 2026 🍀 A little good, a little not so good. We finally had a sunny day yesterday and it actually felt like Maui again! ☀️ Today the rain is back, but it’s not nearly as intense. More like normal rain vs storm. Some tours are starting to resume. We were able to get out on a whale watching tour this morning, but it was rainy, wet, choppy and not exactly enjoyable. But we did see a few whales! 🐋 Ocean is still not swimmable. Brown water and still unsafe, and with more rain coming it’s unclear when that will improve. Roads are mostly open, but visitors are being asked to limit driving. The Road to Hana and the black sand beach are currently closed. Overall, things are improving, just not back to normal yet. If you’re coming soon, come with flexibility and adjusted expectations.
