It's a really valuable, underutilized tool that we have at our disposal as parents. Our kids are almost always listening, and sharing relatable and relevant stories is a great way to connect and make an impact. When our kids are having a hard time, one of the best ways we can connect with them is by sharing a similar experience or discussing a time we felt the same way. If our child is having a meltdown in the moment, that may not be the best time—because their brain can't receive it—but that’s why Dr. Becky mentions the quiet moments and her experience with the crossword. Those moments are prime opportunities for us to share things with our children that they can absorb and use when they need them later.
