It took us 189 countries to reach one of the most iconic Buddhist monasteries in the world! ❤️ Bhutan might be one of our favorite underrated that we have visited. It's natural beauty, traditional architecture, preservation of culture, and incredibly friendly people, make Bhutan a country well worth visiting. And possibly the most famous building in the country is Tiger's Nest Monastery! 🥰 The 2-3 hour hike up was beautiful and so peaceful. The monastery itself is built right on the edge of a 3,000 foot cliff! I have no idea how they built the first monastery here more than 300 years ago! It's one of those places that is hard to capture the beauty through photos without being there to see it in person! 🤯 While we were inside one of the temples we met another American who recognized us through our videos. (Good thing we weren't in an argument with each other at the moment. 😜) Which is proof of how small the world is! He is also well traveled and has incredible stories! So if you see us in person, we love to say hello! ❤️ In order to try to preserve the unique culture and beauty of Bhutan, it is required to have a guide when traveling outside of the valleys of Paro & Thimphu. We were so thankful when reached out to partner with us. The owners are passionate and love sharing about their incredible country. In a few days we learned so much about Bhutan's history, culture, and natural beauty! 🥳 The housing, food, and transportation was amazing! We love meeting locals, so Bhutan Next arranged for us a local archery and dance demonstration. As well as possibly our favorite experience of getting to hike and sleep at a local monastery. Where we heard their morning prayers, talked with the head of the monastery about what it's like living most of his life as a monk.
