Here’s how it typically works: •You submit your offer at a base price. •You include an escalation clause stating you’ll increase your offer (for example, by $5,000 increments) if another buyer bids higher. •You cap your maximum offer so you stay within your comfort zone. •The seller must show proof of the competing offer for the clause to kick in, so everything stays transparent. For us, this clause positioned our offer as competitive without immediately overpaying and it ultimately pushed our bid just high enough to win.
