Started off the week at 100 Centre St Manhattan Criminal Court - Day 4 - Luigi Mangione pre-trial hearing. On Monday, most of the day Altoona PD Officer Christy Wasser was on the stand. She's a police officer who did the bag search of Mangione's backpack that started at the McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and continued when they went back to the police station. This pre-trial hearing is about what evidence will be allowed in his criminal trial. Luigi Mangione is facing murder and other charges in the December 4, 2024 killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a midtown Manhattan Street. The defense wants the backpack which contained a gun, silencer, magazine clips, and detailed writings about the assassination thrown out and kept out of trial. Prosecutor say that the evidence was obtained legally and is key to the case and should be allowed in. I'll be back there at 100 Center St. today for day 5.
