NYC Council member Inna Vernikov shared an anti-Muslim video just days after the San Diego mosque shooting, where three Muslims were killed. Vernikov filmed - without their consent - a group of Muslims praying in New York City outside a mosque and suggested they posed a threat to students at a nearby Jewish high school. “Why do a bunch of GROWN MEN need to do this right outside of a school full of little Jewish girls??? Isn’t this what MOSQUES are for? Is this intentional?” Vernikov wrote on X. A group of Muslim, Jewish, and allied leaders held an emergency press conference on Thursday to condemn the anti-Muslim incitement sparked by Vernikov’s video. “Council Member Vernikov portrayed Muslim men performing Friday prayer outside Al Madina Mosque in Brooklyn as suspicious and threatening, insinuating vile behavior during the most sacred day, Friday (Jummah), despite subsequent public statements from Yeshiva leadership confirming there had been no incident or conflict between the neighboring communities,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a statement
