Don’t just read summaries or skip chapters. This builds structured, formal knowledge. 2. Build a personal timeline of world history from scratch • Write your own timeline and fill it in gradually with dates, events, and cause-and-effect. This builds historical literacy and context. 3. Learn one relevant foreign language to basic reading fluency Focus on reading, not just speaking. This unlocks access to another intellectual tradition and worldview. 4. Read one high-quality newspaper daily for a year • Front to back. International, economics, culture. This builds real-time global awareness and judgment. 5. Study one belief system you don’t identify with, from its own sources • Religious, political, or philosophical texts doesn’t matter. Just read them on their own terms without judgement.
