Polish streamer Łatwogang, real name Patryk Garkowski, sat in front of a camera for nine days straight listening to the same song on loop and raised over 250 million złoty, roughly $68 million, for children battling cancer. It is now the largest charity livestream in history. The 23 year old from Warsaw originally set a goal of 500,000 złoty, around $140,000. Within hours, donation systems were crashing and the numbers kept climbing. Polish celebrities including footballer Robert Lewandowski and rapper Bedoes 2115 jumped in to boost the stream, which peaked at over 1.5 million concurrent viewers on YouTube. The song on repeat was “Ciągle tutaj jestem,” a track recorded by Bedoes and an 11 year old cancer patient named Maja Mecan, with all royalties going to the Cancer Fighters Foundation. Every single złoty raised is going directly to the foundation, with zero commission deducted. The previous record was held by French streamers who raised $19.5 million last September.
