I’ll never forget the day we wrote this song. Most people think it was written from the perspective of God to us (which definitely also applies), but in reality, it was written from the perspective of community who loves you and believes in you even when you don’t believe in yourself. In our writing session, we talked for a while about how sometimes it’s so baffling and frustrating when those that you care about have such a low view of themselves. You want the best for them, but how do you get them to see the potential that everyone around them sees? I think you tell them. Over and over again, until it sticks. You remind them of their own strengths and gifts. You BLESS them with your words. I’ve heard it said that to “bless” someone is just to catalyze their destiny. Restoring their vision for everything they’re capable of being - everything they’re MEANT to be. And that’s exactly what we wanted this song to be. How fitting that we got to share it in front of the Music community that has been SO good at modeling this kind of transformative encouragement. You can see in the video how much they were rooting for us and celebrating us as we performed. And it didn’t stop there. This song is out today because of the constant comments since it was written - “People need to hear this,” “this song has impacted me so deeply,” “once this is released it’ll be on repeat every morning to hype me up,” etc. They spoke it into existence! And honestly I think that’s the point. Sometimes that’s what you need most, is people who speak life into you until you feel it growing in yourself.
