On February 15, 2004, retired Colorado Springs firefighter Alan Kent responded to a 911 call at 6 a.m. and delivered a baby girl named Chloe Huddle just 15 minutes after the emergency call came in. He was one of the first people to ever hold her. Weeks later, Chloe's mom Stacy brought her back to Fire Station 15 to say thank you, and the two families made a pact that day. Chloe would celebrate every birthday at the fire station, surrounded by firefighters instead of a Chuck E. Cheese. She never questioned it growing up. It was just normal to her. The families stayed close for over two decades, showing up for each other's biggest moments. When Kent retired after 35 years in the fire service, Chloe flew from Phoenix to be there. Last month, Kent and his wife drove nearly 800 miles from Colorado to watch Chloe graduate from Grand Canyon University with a degree in educational studies. He's not done either.
