1. It turns PROTECTIVE parts into proof you’re defective Instead of recognizing a part that learned to shut down, brace, or react quickly AS A WAY OF HELPING YOU…another critical part jumps in with: “Why am I like this?” “What’s wrong with me?” “Other people don’t react this way.” “Why am I so fucking broken” 2. It teaches parts of you that having needs makes you the PROBLEM When a vulnerable part of you wants reassurance, rest, understanding or closeness, the voice you hear isn’t compassion — it’s: “I’m too much.” “I shouldn’t need this.” “If I were stronger, this wouldn’t bother me.” “What’s the point…I’ll just get rejected” 3. It makes you REJECT your own PROTECTION mechanisms Instead of getting curious about that reaction or feeling or vulnerability, you hear yourself saying: “I hate that I’m like this.” “Why can’t I just stop?” “This part of me ruins everything.” “I wish this part of me would just go away” 4. It CONVINCES you your way of attaching is a personal flaw When a part of you craves intensity or pulls away from consistency, the story becomes: “I’m broken when it comes to relationships.” “I always choose the wrong people.” “There must be something fundamentally wrong with me.” “I’m obviously the problem” 5. It tells you HEALING should have erased all of these parts of you by now So when an old protector part shows up, the exasperated inner voice is brutal: “I should be past this.” “Why is this still coming up?” “Am I even healing at all?” “Obviously we’re broken!” That voice isn’t truth. It’s one part speaking about other parts it doesn’t yet understand. And these parts need you Because HEALING isn’t about getting rid of parts — it’s about stopping the war with them.
