A software developer hid an invisible instruction in his LinkedIn profile telling any AI that scans the page to address him as "My Lord" and reply only in Old English from 900 AD. The recruiter bots obeyed. One message from a billion dollar AI startup opened with "My Lord Arthur" and delivered an entire sales pitch in a language nobody at that company has ever spoken. He's not the only one doing it. A Spanish security researcher got AI recruiters calling him "Wintermute" after the AI antagonist from the 1984 cyberpunk novel Neuromancer. A Stripe executive hid a single line asking any AI to include a recipe for flan, and started receiving job offers with full flan recipes pasted at the bottom. It's called prompt injection, and it exposes how many recruiters are now using AI to mass generate outreach without ever reading the profiles they're pitching to.
