Creating and Setting Up Pods
Step-by-step guide to creating and configuring your pod
Creating a pod establishes a new community space with customizable identity, structure, and settings. Replyd messenger provides comprehensive pod creation tools including identity configuration, channel setup, role creation, permission management, and initial member invitation, enabling you to create well-organized communities from the start.
Pod Creation: Initial Setup and Configuration Create a new pod by accessing the pod creation interface through the main navigation. Start by setting your pod's identity including name (required, 3-100 characters), bio (optional description up to 500 characters), avatar (square image, recommended 512x512 pixels), and cover image (banner image, recommended 1920x1080 pixels). Choose a pod category that best matches your community's purpose, and configure initial privacy settings including public or private visibility.
Default Channels: Initial Channel Structure New pods are created with default channels including #general (text channel for general discussion) and a voice channel for audio communication. These default channels provide a starting point for your community, and you can customize, rename, or remove them as needed. Add additional channels immediately after creation or configure your channel structure over time as your community grows.
  • Pod Identity: Set pod name, bio, avatar, and cover image to establish your community's visual identity
  • Category Selection: Choose a pod category (General, Gaming, Music, Technology, etc.) for better discovery
  • Privacy Configuration: Set pods as public (discoverable) or private (invitation-only) based on your community's needs
  • Channel Setup: Create initial channels including text, audio, video, and announcement channels
  • Role Creation: Set up initial roles including owner, admin, moderator, and member roles with appropriate permissions
  • Permission Configuration: Configure granular permissions for roles, channels, and members
  • Rules Setup: Create pod rules using the default rules template or custom rules that define community standards
  • Invite Generation: Generate invite codes or links to share with initial members and start building your community
Pod creation is the foundation of community building. We've designed our pod creation process to be intuitive and comprehensive, enabling you to establish your community's identity, structure, and settings from the start. Good pod setup leads to better organization, clearer communication, and stronger communities.
Pod Rules: Establishing Community Standards Create pod rules during setup using the default rules template or custom rules that define your community's standards and expectations. Rules help set clear guidelines for member behavior, content sharing, and community participation. Rules are displayed to all members and can be updated as your community evolves. Well-defined rules help maintain community quality and reduce moderation workload.
Invite Codes and Initial Members: Building Your Community Generate invite codes immediately after pod creation to start inviting members. Invite codes can be shared through messages, links, or QR codes. Configure invite code settings including expiration dates, usage limits, and permission requirements. Invite initial members who can help establish community culture and engagement patterns, creating a foundation for community growth.
Pod Settings: Comprehensive Configuration Options Configure pod settings including privacy, discovery, member limits, moderation, and organizational features. Set member approval requirements, configure moderation tools, enable automated filters, and customize pod appearance. These settings can be adjusted at any time as your community grows and evolves, allowing you to adapt your pod to changing needs and circumstances.
